Each and every day, Bremerton and Bainbridge Island ferry commuters are treated to the Smile Guy. Displaying his colorful sign and waving a peace sign, he demands a smile from you as you pass by and even after a weary, unproductive day, I oblige. He always lifts my spirits and I'm sure I'm not alone. He has a cup out, yes, albeit discreetly, but deservedly so. He adds value to each and every passerby.Yeah sure, perhaps he is just another beggar with a shtick. But besides reminding us what it's truly all about, to dwell in the here and now, this guy is colorful! Is he enlightened because he is colorful or is he colorful because he is enlightened? Once again, we’re presented with the chicken and the egg dilemma.
No doubt, it’s all about that color! We are attracted to his colorful sign and his colorful spirit. I will easily fill his cup with a donation.

how nice to see someone contributing productively. i have seen a few people around offering "free hugs" to all. I think your guy's inner happiness led him to his colorful sign and i think it's wonderful!
